Project Description

The Island Gold District, operated by Alamos Gold, includes the high-grade underground Island Gold Mine and the large-scale Magino open-pit mine development near Dubreuilville, Ontario. Argonaut Gold previously operated Magino before Alamos Gold acquired it in 2024.

TULLOCH has supported both sites through engineering, geomatics, materials testing, and construction quality assurance. At Island Gold, our involvement has included the Phase III Expansion since 2019, supporting development of the process plant, shaft site, paste plant, haul roads, and associated infrastructure.

At Magino, TULLOCH has provided ongoing services since 2020. Our work began with development surveys supporting final permitting and continued into construction through QA surveying for multiple stages of tailings management facility raises. This included site-wide survey control, drone surveys, precision layout verification, topographic surveys, volumetric calculations, and quantity reconciliation.

TULLOCH also established an on-site materials testing laboratory at Magino to provide QA/QC testing for the owner and contractors. Following Alamos Gold’s acquisition, our team has continued to provide QA surveys, materials testing, civil inspections, and technical services across the Paste Plant, Magino Haul Road, Mill Expansion, and Island Gold Phase III Expansion.

TULLOCH’s work at Magino received an ACEC-Ontario 2025 Award of Distinction in the Industry, Resources and Energy category, recognized alongside our long-standing partners from Missanabie Cree First Nation.
