Project Description

The Côté Gold Mine is a significant mining development in Ontario and is among the country’s largest open-pit operations. TULLOCH has maintained an excellent working relationship with IAMGOLD and has supported the Côté project since 2011.

TULLOCH was initially retained to complete detailed design for the reconstruction of 9 km of Chester Road, the main access route off the Sultan Industrial Road, including 30 water crossings. This work included drainage and hydrology studies, quantity calculations, and Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry work permit applications. TULLOCH was later retained for road design, drainage, and hydrology support for the Côté Lake Road and Three Duck Lake Road access routes.

In 2018, TULLOCH completed perimeter surveys for mining claims and surface rights, helping IAMGOLD bring additional Crown Land to lease and expand the mining operation. In 2020, TULLOCH was selected to provide Survey QA services for construction as part of the Owner’s Engineer-of-Record team, dedicating 14 staff members to the project on full-time rotations for more than three years.

TULLOCH’s role later expanded to include QA surveys and QA materials testing for mine construction. In 2024, TULLOCH was awarded Survey QA and Materials Testing scope for Stage II of the Tailings Management Facility, including mobilization of a CCIL-certified mobile laboratory, nuclear densometers, and supporting equipment for QA lab testing, compaction testing, and material sampling on site.

Located on the traditional lands of Mattagami First Nation and Flying Post First Nation, the Côté Gold project reflects TULLOCH’s long-standing relationships with these communities and our shared commitment to local participation.
