Project Description

Big Sky Solar is a 140 MW utility-scale solar project in Acadia Valley, Alberta. TULLOCH provided engineering, geomatics, geospatial, and geotechnical services to help define site conditions, property constraints, foundation requirements, and drainage considerations during project development.

Our work combined LiDAR, aerial imagery, legal surveying, buried utility investigations, GIS verification, geotechnical investigations, foundation design, and hydrologic and hydraulic analysis. These inputs supported the project base plan, land conveyance drawings, construction drawings, and technical information used to advance design and construction.

Scope of Services

  • Site control network establishment
  • LiDAR, aerial imagery, and topographic feature identification
  • Legal boundary retracement and buried utility investigations
  • GIS-based geospatial data verification
  • Engineering base plan, land conveyance, and construction drawings
  • Geotechnical investigations and frost susceptibility analysis
  • Pile foundation and adapter design
  • Load testing and foundation verification
  • Electrical and thermal resistivity testing
  • Hydrologic and hydraulic modelling
  • Flood risk analysis and mapping
  • Scope conformance and quality control
