Project Description

Skyview 2 BESS is a 411 MW battery energy storage project in Spencerville, Ontario, within the Township of Edwardsburgh Cardinal. Once complete, the lithium-ion battery energy storage facility will store electricity from Ontario’s grid during periods of lower demand and release it back during peak demand, helping strengthen grid reliability and support Ontario’s growing electricity needs.

The project is recognized as Canada’s largest battery energy storage project and is being delivered as part of Ontario’s Independent Electricity System Operator Long-Term 1 procurement process. The facility is planned to provide up to four hours of storage capacity and is expected to support reliable power for nearly 400,000 homes.

The project is located on approximately 30 acres of rural land north of Dobbie Road and is being developed by Potentia Renewables in collaboration with the Algonquins of Pikwàkanagàn First Nation and project partners. Construction began following project milestones in 2025, with commercial operation planned for 2027.

TULLOCH is providing integrated survey, geotechnical, civil, and structural engineering support for site development, permitting, design, and construction. Our work supports the technical planning and construction requirements needed to prepare the site for major BESS infrastructure, including foundations, grading, drainage, equipment pads, site access, and ancillary systems.
