Project Description
CIBC Square is a landmark mixed-use commercial development beside Union Station in downtown Toronto. Phase 2 includes the 50-storey tower at 141 Bay Street, a 1.5-million-square-foot office building rising approximately 241 metres. Together with the completed tower at 81 Bay Street, the development forms a three-million-square-foot commercial campus connected by an elevated public park spanning the active rail corridor.
The tower’s height, structural complexity, and location beside one of Canada’s busiest transportation hubs created demanding requirements for construction control and steel erection. Large, highly engineered steel components required precise placement and repeatable verification throughout construction, with some individual steel nodes weighing between 18 and 40 metric tonnes.
TULLOCH provided high-precision construction surveying and control services to support structural steel erection. Our work included control network upgrades, transfer of control between building levels, gridline layout, column verticality checks, embed plate verification, and field survey support for tight-tolerance steel installation.
