Project Description

TULLOCH completed a specialized soil investigation at a military complex near the North Bay airport to assess the potential presence of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances, or PFAS, and other environmental contaminants.

The investigation responded to concerns associated with the historical use of aqueous film-forming foam during firefighting and emergency response activities. Previous information indicated that PFAS-containing firefighting foams used at the airport since the 1950s may have affected site soil conditions.

TULLOCH developed and implemented a targeted sampling program to determine the presence and depth of PFAS impacts. Additional environmental parameters were also analyzed to provide a broader understanding of site conditions and support future planning, risk evaluation, and remediation decisions.
