TULLOCH Achieves Gold Standard Best Managed Status

One of Canada’s Best Managed Companies
TULLOCH has been recognized as a 2026 Gold Standard winner in Canada’s Best Managed Companies, marking the company’s fourth consecutive year in one of Canada’s leading business awards programs.
TULLOCH first earned the Best Managed designation in 2023 and successfully retained its status in each subsequent year. Gold Standard represents the next level of the program and is reserved for organizations that have maintained Best Managed status for three consecutive years and successfully retain the designation in years four through six.
For TULLOCH, reaching Gold Standard recognizes more than four consecutive awards. It reflects years of strategic planning, investment, and continuous improvement as the company prepares for its next stage of growth.
Turning Strategy Into Action
TULLOCH entered the Best Managed program while executing a multi-year Strategic Plan developed in 2022.
The planning process incorporated input from teams across the organization, client feedback, conversations with industry stakeholders, demographic research and market intelligence on future capital projects. These inputs helped TULLOCH identify priorities that addressed both immediate operational needs and the capabilities required for long-term growth.
The plan included initiatives focused on recruitment and training, leadership structure, technology, business systems, integrated land development, community investment, project coordination, fleet and logistics, document management and office infrastructure. By the final year of the plan, nearly all of these major priorities had progressed from strategy into implementation, while longer-term work on TULLOCH’s Business Management System continued into the next planning cycle.
One of the most significant changes was an evolution of TULLOCH’s organizational structure. As the company grew, it redesigned the existing model to clarify leadership responsibilities, strengthen succession planning, and better coordinate resources across markets and locations. The transition also created new leadership opportunities while preparing the organization for the next generation of senior leaders.
Technology became another major investment area. TULLOCH established its Office of Technology to help improve workflows, automate repeatable processes and build better connections between company information systems. Document management moved to a cloud-based environment, while new reporting, quality, and digital tools created a stronger foundation for future business systems and data-driven decision-making.
Growth With Purpose
As TULLOCH has grown, its strategic priorities have continued to reflect the company’s people-first culture and connection to the communities where employees live and work.
The Strategic Plan formalized TULLOCH’s Community Commitment Program, including the company’s commitment to reinvest 10% of annual profits into community initiatives. The program established clearer areas of focus and a more structured process for supporting requests from communities and organizations.
That same people-first philosophy has remained central to TULLOCH’s approach to growth, leadership development and succession.
“We want to build an organization where everyone loves their job and their leaders care for them.”
For TULLOCH, maintaining that purpose while becoming a larger and more structured organization has been an important measure of successful growth.
Four Consecutive Years of Best Managed Recognition
Canada’s Best Managed Companies was established in 1993 and recognizes excellence among Canadian-owned and managed private companies. Applicants are assessed through a rigorous process focused on four areas: Strategy, Capabilities and Innovation, Culture and Commitment, and Governance and Financials.
Gold Standard status is particularly significant because companies entering their fourth year must complete the program’s full application process again. The designation recognizes organizations that have demonstrated sustained management performance and continued commitment to the Best Managed standard over multiple years.
The 2026 Best Managed program recognized more than 500 privately owned and managed Canadian companies nationwide.
For TULLOCH, Gold Standard provides an opportunity to recognize what has been accomplished while staying focused on what comes next.
The company continues to invest in its people, leadership, technology and operating systems while adapting to changing markets and pursuing new opportunities across Canada and the United States.
Gold Standard is an important milestone, but the underlying objective remains the same: build a resilient organization that continues to improve, deliver quality work for its clients, and create opportunities for its people.
