Project Description
Quinsam Coal Mine southwest of Campbell River on Vancouver Island is a former coal operation now focused on reclamation and closure. Working with SRK, TULLOCH provided on-site quality assurance during reclamation of the 2N Pit and construction of the River Barrier Pillar discharge system.
Field responsibilities included QA/QC inspection, verification against design requirements, observation of earthworks and geosynthetic liner installation, material verification, daily reporting, RFI support, and coordination among contractors, consultants, and stakeholders.
Scope of Services
- QA/QC field inspections and verification against design specifications
- Observation of excavation, fill placement, and grading
- Oversight of geosynthetic liner-system installation
- Verification of aggregate gradation and fill-material placement
- Daily reports, weekly progress summaries, and RFI responses
- Participation in contractor meetings and project updates
- Liaison support among contractors, consultants, and stakeholders
