Vale called on our Environmental Engineering group to:

• monitor and manage surface water to ensure impacted streams are collected, treated, settled, sampled and released in accordance with compliance criteria
• conduct Close Mine Care & Maintenance, including inspections, sampling and reporting to meet Vale’s regulatory and corporate requirements

In 2018, Vale engaged the dam experts in our Geotechnical Engineering group to complete Dam Safety Inspections (DSI) for all dams at all sites. To date, our geotechnical engineers have reviewed more than 60 dam facilities at 12 mine sites.
