Sioux Lake Highway Project

Sioux Lookout Highway

This project consisted of: Civil Engineering, Contract Administration, Engineers, Geotechnical

If you head west on Highway 17, about 223km before the Manitoba boarder you will see the Highway 72 exit for Sioux Lookout. Halfway between Thunder Bay and Winnipeg, and north of the Trans-Canada Highway, Sioux Lookout sits nestled on the lakeshores of Pelican, Abram and Lac Seul with the rugged Canadian Shield as their backdrop.

In 2012, TULLOCH was awarded an MTO contract administration project located in Sioux Lookout. The project involves typical geodetic ditching and ditch cleanout to achieve positive drainage flow along with culvert replacements to correct drainage problems. Following completion of all grade work, including frost heave repairs and pulverizing and granular grade raises for cross-fall correction, a single lift of Superpave 12.5 was placed for the entire length of the contract. The project is 30.4km in length, stretching throughout numerous townships while heading east towards Pickle Lake.
