ENGINEERING

Multidisciplinary Service. Singular Focus.

Our multifaceted Engineering division includes seven groups (Civil, Structural, Geotechnical, Industrial, Environmental, Planning and Materials Testing), boasting professionals who provide services to a wide variety of industry stakeholders, including municipalities, land development, client energy developers and operators, mining clients, industrial facilities, contractors, all levels of government, and First Nations.  We cover everything from concept to construction to commissioning (plus decommissioning as well), and we relish the fact that every project is different.

While we’re well known for the exemplary work we deliver with enthusiasm and integrity, that’s not what makes us stand out; at TULLOCH it’s our team who makes the difference. The integrated engineering services we provide are spearheaded by a group of experts who are willing to tackle challenging assignments and go to whatever lengths necessary to get the job done.

Freedom & Flexibility, for Clients & Team Members

At TULLOCH, we say that “We are always keen to try something new” – which is an important aspect of our company culture for team members, as well as clients.

From an employee perspective, we give our professionals the freedom to pursue what projects motivate them: from diverse avenues of work, to unique projects that may be new to us, or geographic areas that we haven’t been before. Our company ethos also provides flexibility for personal time commitments.  We encourage staff to put their health and families first, by establishing a working schedule that serves the best interests of their circumstances.

From a client perspective, this approach nurtures a sturdy team that is entrepreneurial, dexterous, and eager to tackle new challenges. Because we do what is best for our employees at every given opportunity with a “people-centric” culture that furnishes them with trust and integrity, our professionals are empowered to do the best job possible for our clients.

Our Seven Groups

Our civil group undertakes a wide variety of civil engineering assignments including: site and subdivision development, road design, water supply and distribution, sewage collection and treatment, stormwater management, and renewable energy development.

Our structural engineering assignments include: foundation and building design, bridge design, and building condition assessments.  We also specialize in the design of foundations for solar farms across Canada.

We provide geotechnical analysis and recommendations for structure foundations, roads, and equipment foundations. Our work includes slope stability analysis, settlement analysis, and just about anything else relating to soils and rock. Specializing in dam assessment and design, we’ve tackled dam safety reviews nationwide.

While we handle mechanical and structural engineering assignments for a variety of industrial clients, much of the work in this group is for Steel Plant Industry (typically including maintenance and upgrade assignments at steel mills).

Our environmental group works with the natural environment. This includes the assessment of aquatic and terrestrial environments in relation to fisheries studies, Species at Risk studies, erosion and sediment control, and permitting for various infrastructure and building projects.

We provide land use planning services for developers in support of development applications. This includes re-zonings, Official Plan Amendments, variances and approvals for subdivisions and condominium developments. We also provide planning support services for municipalities.

Our material testing laboratory is located in Sault Ste. Marie, and our group tests construction materials for quality control and assurance purposes, including a wide variety of tests on asphalt, concrete, soils, and aggregates. We also operate remote mobile testing labs on larger construction projects and mine sites.
